Re-Design - NCSU James B. Hunt Jr. Library Makerspace

For this semester-long project we chose a space that existed in one of two of our university libraries. The prompt was to choose a space in the library and come up with a new way for users to experience said chosen area, utilizing two-, three-, and four-dimensional media. The following shows the progress of workshops done throughout the semester, turning the Makerspace as it is now from a place where students just give lab assistants their files to be 3D printed, to a place that students can go learn to 3D modeling as well as 3D print for themselves. The final user experience includes inlaid 3D printed pieces in the floor leading from the staircase to the door of the makerspace showcasing what can be done with 3D printing, a sign activated by movement, an interactive screen which shows users basic information about the makerspace also activated through movement, an app that gives users basic information about the status of printers that are in use in the lab as well as their prints and 2D information on the wall instructing users about how to use the printers.
